My Saturnian wellness routine: how I build structure through astrology
As a Saturn-dominant individual, my wellness philosophy revolves around Saturnian rituals, practices that build structure, discipline, and long-term vitality, so this is not about quick fixes or trends.
The goal is to honor the body systems ruled by Saturn and commit to routines that support longevity, integrity, and strength.
In astrology, Saturn governs the knees, joints, backbone, spinal muscles, patella, bones, teeth, tendons, ligaments, skin, hair, and the spleen. Every part of my wellness routine is intentionally designed to support these Saturn-ruled areas.
Saturn rules the teeth — why oral Care is my foundation
I always say: teeth first! Saturn rules teeth, and oral health is a gateway to overall well-being. My dental care routine is non-negotiable.
Daily Water Flossing
I’ve used a water flosser at least twice a day for over a decade. Since I chose to keep my wisdom teeth, extra care is essential. Traditional floss is a hard no for me, because microplastics? Absolutely not. Water flossing wins every time.
Chemical-Free Toothpaste
I use toothpaste free from sulfates, artificial flavors, and harsh chemicals. My favorites are blends made from coconut oil, bentonite clay, and charcoal with mint. Sometimes, I even make my own. Clean teeth without toxins align perfectly with Saturn’s demand for integrity.
Tongue Scraping
Tongue scraping removes bacteria, supports fresh breath, aligns oral energy, and helps the liver process less waste entering through the mouth.
Oil Pulling
Swishing coconut or sesame oil for 10–20 minutes helps remove toxins, strengthen gums, and improve oral health overall. Yes, I am a coocoo-nut addict. Yes, the pun was intended. 🥥
Supporting Teeth Through Nutrition
Strong teeth require strong bones. I support my jaw and skeletal system with calcium, vitamin D, and magnesium supplementation.
Honestly? I love oral care so much that in another lifetime, I probably would’ve been a dentist.
Saturnian skeletal & joint health: knees, bones, tendons, and ligaments
Saturn governs the body’s framework, so skeletal and joint health is a major focus, especially with my Mars-Saturn connection (ruler of my 10th, where Saturn resides in Aries, is Mars in the 6th house):
Weight-Bearing & Resistance Training
Not my favorite, but necessary. I do squats, lunges, and resistance band work to strengthen bones, tendons, ligaments, and the patella. I started in my mid-20s, knowing that future-me will thank present-me. I am deeply anti-osteoporosis!
Pilates & Core Work
Now this is my one true joy. Pilates supports spinal muscles, posture, and nervous system regulation, which is essential to my Saturn-ruled Aquarius stellium. This is my weekly “me time.”
Low-Impact Cardio
Swimming, cycling, rollerblading, and brisk walking are my go-to activities, especially in spring and Aries season, when transits activate my natal Saturn.
Stretching & Mobility
Daily hip, hamstring, and knee stretches keep my joints mobile and prevent stiffness, especially important since I sit at a computer every day.
Collagen, The Saturnian Building Block
Collagen is essential for skin, bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, organs, blood vessels, and gut lining, the majority Saturn cares about.
My collagen sources:
Homemade jellies ✔️
Homemade bone broth ✔️
Eggs every morning ✔️ (helps with building collagen)
Collagen is foundational to my entire Saturnian wellness routine.
Spinal health is key
I once read that the spine is the bridge to the heavens, and it makes complete sense, especially since kundalini energy rests at its base.
Although the spine is traditionally linked to Leo, Saturn rules the spinal muscles, making spinal health deeply Saturnian.
I grew up with a curved spine and avoided exercise for years. Routine felt like pressure, performance, and boredom equals instant refusal mode.
Despite not experiencing pain, weak spinal muscles affected something deeper: my confidence.
A chiropractor session in 2019 changed everything. It was dramatic (I may have screamed a demon out), but the confidence afterward was undeniable. Unfortunately, without consistency, it faded.
Now, spinal muscle activation is my top priority in Pilates and the gym. I’ve learned that when I neglect my back, I slip back into insecurity. And I am so done with that energy!
Saturnian spleen care & mindfulness
The spleen, ruled by Saturn, plays a vital role in immunity, blood filtration, and energy regulation. Traditional Chinese Medicine taught me that organs thrive when we understand what they love, and what they don’t.
Foods That Support the Spleen
Warm, cooked foods (never cold or raw)
Steamed or roasted root vegetables: carrots, pumpkin, sweet potato, squash, yams
Cooked fruits like apples and pears
Moderate protein and complex carbs (quinoa is a favorite)
Gentle warming spices: ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, cloves
Licorice tea
What Weakens the Spleen
Excess sugar
Raw, cold drinks
Overeating
Irregular meals
The spleen is also associated with worry and overthinking, so mindful eating and routine are essential. Yes, I treat my organs like customers in a game. It works. That’s what matters!
Saturnian skin & hair care: minimal, grounded, intentional
With Saturn's dominance, my skin and hair are extremely dry. My approach? Radical simplicity.
My Saturnian Skincare Routine
Cleanser: local goat soap or my grandma’s handmade soap
Moisturizers: lamb lard (controversial, I know) or herbal salves from local makers + panthenol cream
Lip care: panthenol lard
Makeup removal: coconut oil + soap cleanse
My skincare costs under $10, mostly because many products are homemade or gifted.
Hair Care
Hair and nails? Salon territory.
At-home keratin treatments twice a year (no carcinogenic ingredients)
No hair dye, ever ( I just don’t need it yet)
Neem, rosemary, and fenugreek oil
Scalp massages
Shower filters
Silk pillowcase
With my natal Venus in Capricorn, simplicity is beauty.
