How To Use Astrocartography to Grow Your Business Step-by-Step Guide
Astrocartography, a branch of locational astrology, literally maps your natal natal chart onto a world map. You can think of it as your natal chart spread across the map with dozens of relocation charts in various parts of the world if this makes sense!
Here at My Astro Diaries, I worked with many people who are also building conscious, soul-aligned businesses by chance, from yoga teachers and energy workers to intuitive creatives and holistic coaches, spontaneously through astrocartography reading requests, so I am quite inspired to write about this specific topic to broadly help out anyone who stumbles upon this diary entry.
By studying your astrocartography map, you can identify cities and places in general where the planetary “climate” naturally supports your goals and where you can get in flow with more ease in comparison to other places. For entrepreneurs and creative professionals (including wellness and spiritual entrepreneurs), being in a location under your favorable lines + and those of your business (yes, your business has its chart too!) can give a natural boost to your work.
Even though every natal chart and therefore astrocartography map is highly unique, the goal of this diary entry is for you to get an aha! moment and a bit of direction, clarity, and guidance in your exploration of this topic, and perhaps a new chapter related to your business. Let’s begin!
Step #1: Begin with Your Natal Chart
It’s important to understand that just because a certain planetary line like the often-mentioned Jupiter or Sun line is widely promoted as a “success” spot, that doesn’t mean it will automatically work for you. Locational astrology and astrocartography are once again deeply personal, and the key to building a strong foundation is starting with your own natal chart. You can pull your birth chart for free here. Keep in mind that you need your exact time of birth and location.
Here’s what you should focus on first before exploring your astrocartography map:
What is my rising sign, and which sign rules my chart?
Your rising sign sets the ruling planet of your chart that carries core energy that influences your life path. For example, if you have a Leo rising, your ruling luminary is the Sun, for Cancer rising the Moon, and so on. Research what is the ruling planet of your rising is so you can detect it later on in your natal chart. What aspects does my chart ruler make, and in which house is it located?
These details reveal how your ruling planet expresses itself and where in your life these energies are most active. How does the ruler of my chart influence my daily decisions and mindset?
Understanding how you experience and process this planetary energy in everyday life helps you make more authentic choices, including where to live and work. What challenges or supportive energies surround my ruler?
Are there tough aspects that suggest caution or lessons? Are there easy aspects that encourage growth? This insight can shape how you interpret astrocartography lines and what kind of environments you’ll thrive in.What natal chart patterns or configurations are present?
Look for formations such as T-squares, Grand Trines, or Stelliums involving key planets. These patterns can indicate areas of strength or challenge that astrocartography can activate or mitigate locationally later on in your exploration.Acknowledge your natal Midheaven, planets within it, aspects to those planets, and in which house is it
This gives insight into how your professional path might flourish.
Besides your ruler, detect the sole dispositor of your natal chart
A sole dispositor is a planet that all others in your birth chart eventually trace back to through rulership. It acts as a dominant influence, shaping your core motivations, decision-making, and overall direction, even if it’s not strongly placed.
How do current transits and secondary progressions interact with my chart ruler and natal chart in general? (more advanced question)
Understanding ongoing transits and secondary progressions helps time relocations or business moves to periods when planetary energies support change and growth.
If these questions are way too overwhelming, you can book a natal chart reading first below or with any other astrologer that resonates to you.
Step #2: Connecting with the Right Places Using Astrocartography and Mapping Your Lines
Once you get the bigger picture of your natal chart, it’s time to finally pull your astrocartography map. Before you start, maybe you already had some regions intuitively in your mind. You can write those areas down to check them later on.
All in all, imagine mindfully and intentionally choosing a town, city or region where the energy feels aligned with your business vision; that’s the kind of insight locational astrology and astrocartography offers.
To explore these in more detail, I suggest you read the following diary entry + the linked entries within! On steps on how to approach your astrocartography map as a beginner, explore here.
Each planetary line on your map represents a specific kind of energy. For a generic example:
A Sun MC line might highlight places where your confidence and leadership naturally shine.
A Jupiter MC line could point to areas ripe with growth opportunities and abundance.
A Venus DC line often connects to creativity, harmony, and strong client relationships.
Meanwhile, Mercury ASC/DC/MC lines encourage clear communication and networking.
Please keep in mind your natal chart analysis in the back of your mind while approaching the map!
When you understand what these lines mean and where they fall geographically, along with analyzing your natal chart placements side by side through time, you can make smarter decisions about where to work, especially as a digital nomad or to expand your business!
Step #3: Don’t Assume You Need to Move
This is a big one: relocation is powerful, but it’s not the only option. You can remotely activate a certain line by connecting with clients there, traveling occasionally (best effects of remote activation are felt exactly after the trip), or even intentionally aligning with its culture or energy gradually through time.
I currently live about 5 degrees away from my Uranus Descendant (DC) line in Aquarius, and yes, you don't need to be exactly on the line for it to have a noticeable energetic effect. Uranus is especially significant in my case because it's the sole dispositor of my natal chart, making its influence even more pronounced in my environment and relationships. I use it as a vessel for remote activation to reach clients worldwide business-wise, and it also helped tremendously to find friends too! You can read about remote activation and about this whole experience here.
Step #4: Focus on Key Career and Business-Supporting Major Lines
Now, as you understand all of the nuanced details, and once you realize how it’s not that black and white, it’s time to detect those potent lines!
Now let’s explore an example. Let’s say you are a Libra rising, which means that your Venus is the ruler of your chart and your Venus is in Taurus. This means that Venus is in its natural position, as both Libra and Taurus are ruled by Venus. This means your Venus is positioned in the 8th house, if we are using the Whole Sign house system. Your Venus is in sextile with your Sun in Cancer, it’s in trine with Mercury in Virgo, but is opposing your Jupiter in Scorpio. So the ruler of your chart has 2 harmonious aspects and one challenging.
When you open your map, you are now searching for your Venus lines. See them circled below (Venus AC line is missing):
Now, clarify your business goals. Are you aiming to increase your visibility and build a global presence, or do you want to attract more aligned one-on-one clients and meaningful connections?
If you decide on the first option, choosing a location near your Venus MC line can be more aligned, while for boosting 1:1 clients, Venus DC is your go-to line for that.
Once start researching places, keep in mind latitude (paran) lines, especially if you are actually considering relocation of your business in that area.
Remember that you also have a green light from your Sun and Mercury placements, but a bit of challenge from Jupiter. When Venus opposes Jupiter, the tension between comfort and expansion can create some challenges. Jupiter’s influence can push you toward riskier growth or rapid changes that feel uncomfortable. This can lead to overcommitting or stretching resources too thin trying to “have it all.”
Of course, you don’t need to do this only on the angular lines of your sole dispositor. For example, you are a full-time creative designer as a digital nomad, and you would love to work from a place that boosts your creativity to the roof. In this case, you want to find places where your Venus will fall in the 5th house (non-angular position) by examining places through relocation charts. As you can see, it’s quite nuanced, and your astrocartography map isn’t always the main character of your intention. Also, you can choose other potent planetary lines to travel to / relocate / remotely activate, as intentions are key here.
Step #5: Explore the Chart of Your Business
Briefly mentioning this in the beginning, this is my all-time favorite technique that came out eerily accurate through experimentation. I will leave this juice for the Locational Astrology Learning Hub, but I will share my personal example briefly:
Some MC lines of my business go through the US, and this is where its visibility is the strongest, especially in North and South Carolina + generally the East Coast near its North Node MC line in Aries. Yet, this North Node is conjunct my natal chart Saturn MC in Aries, which affects my current location moderately. By traditional astrology, Saturn is my sole dispositor (in traditional astrology, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are not included). Pretty interesting, isn’t it? I have to say that I don’t run ads for my business, so it’s all organic and backtracked analytics, and also, I didn’t use any specific strategies to reach this area of the world.
I could easily get lost in all the tiny details, but I’ll leave more space for our Locational Astrology Learning Hub! If all of this resonates, launch will be soon. Explore more and join the waitlist by clicking the image below:
