Why your best astrocartography line is not always Venus or Jupiter

When people first discover astrocartography, they usually want to know one thing immediately:

What is my best astrocartography line?

And most of the internet will give them the same simple answer.

Go to your Venus line for love.
Or go to your Jupiter line for luck.
Avoid Saturn and be careful with Pluto.
Do not move to Mars unless you want chaos.

It sounds so clean and simple, but actual astrology is not that flat and easy. Not even close…

The quick answer

Venus and Jupiter can absolutely be supportive lines. They are traditionally known as benefic planets, and they often bring themes of connection, pleasure, opportunity, expansion, beauty, growth, faith, romance, generosity, creativity, or ease.

But that does not mean Venus and Jupiter are automatically your best places.

In professional astrocartography and locational astrology, a planet is never interpreted in isolation.

Your ASC/DC MC/IC Venus lines are not automatically the best place for love and your ASC/DC MC/IC Jupiter lines are not automatically the best place for success either. And the same applies for “bad reputation” lines a.k.a malefic planets Saturn and Mars, or generational planets (Uranus, Neptune, Pluto).

A line (a.k.a your relocated angle + your planet) is only one part of the story.

To understand whether a place is actually supportive for you, we need to look at the actual condition of that planet in your birth chart, whether you have a day chart or night chart, what house the planet rules, what aspects it makes, what angle it falls on, what you are trying to build in that season of life, and what timing is active when you go there.

So there are many layers in astrocartography and locational astrology, as you can see.

That is why ‘the best astrocartography line’ is not the one that sounds nicest on TikTok or Social Media in general.

Why people overrate Venus and Jupiter lines?

Venus and Jupiter are easy to romanticize because their symbolism is attractive and therefore easier to market.

Let’s take Venus first as an example. This divine planet speaks to love, beauty, art, pleasure, sweetness, connection, sensuality, money, aesthetics, harmony, social ease… You name it. Naturally, people want to go there, right? Therefore a certain Venus line sounds like the place where you become more desirable all in all.

Jupiter speaks to growth, travel, luck, education, abundance, wisdom, faith, publishing, teaching, opportunity, and confidence. Of course people want that too. A certain Jupiter line sounds like the place where doors open, life expands, and everything starts moving in your favor.

And yes, those experiences can happen.

A Venus line in astrocartography can bring romance, artistic flow, better social experiences, a deeper enjoyment of life, and a stronger relationship with beauty. While a Jupiter line in astrocartography can bring study, travel, professional opportunities, teachers, confidence, generosity, and a sense that life has more room.

But benefic does not mean perfect! Planetary shadow work is key. How much have you brought from subconscious to conscious?

Venus can bring pleasure, but also avoidance, and nobody talks about it. It can also attract people, but not always the right people!

Jupiter can bring growth, but also excess. Jupiterian expansiveness open doors too, but not every open door leads somewhere sustainable.

This is why we need a more serious approach to the divine esoteric tool called astrocartography and not to treat it as an escapism tool.

A planet’s general symbolism gives us the theme. The natal chart tells us how that theme works for you. Therefore you can’t skip your birth chart and your path.

Benefic does not mean automatically good

Claudius Ptolemy traditional astrology tetrabiblos

In Claudius Ptolemy’s Tetrabiblos, Venus and Jupiter are described as benefic planets because their nature is warm, moist, and well balanced. These qualities were seen as supportive of life, growth, fertility, and harmony, which is why both planets became associated with bringing ease, nourishment, and favorable outcomes.

But “benefic” does not mean “always good no matter what.”

A benefic planet can still be poorly placed, under pressure, out of sect, ruling difficult houses, or tied to themes that do not match what you are seeking.

For example, a Venus DC line may feel beautiful at first, but if your Venus is in a difficult natal condition and you haven’t brought the difficulty from subconscious to conscious, it may bring up complicated relationship patterns, or you may feel socially more desirable, but also overly concerned with approval, comfort, or being liked. A.k.a it brings the shadow to the light, and that can be a bit tricky if it isn’t integrated before relocation or travel for a certain period of time nearby this energy.

Literally the same applies to Jupiter. Jupiter astrocartography lines may bring growth, but growth is not always gentle, because Jupiter expands what it touches. If it touches something healthy, the expansion can feel truly generous. But if it touches something already excessive, avoidant, inflated, or unrealistic, the expansion can become quite too much.

Summa summarum…

Your Venus is not everyone’s Venus.

Your Jupiter is not everyone’s Jupiter.

That is the whole point!

Malefic does not mean automatically bad

This is the other side of the same mistake.

If Venus and Jupiter are over-romanticized, Saturn and Mars are often over-feared.

Saturn and Mars are traditionally called malefics because they tend to bring pressure, separation, heat, conflict, effort, discipline, boundaries, cuts, friction, or confrontation. And in black and white way of thinking, this gets a label for ‘‘not being useful’’ automatically.

A Saturn line can be one of the most important lines for someone who wants to build something lasting, commit to mastery, take life seriously, focus their work, study deeply, accept responsibility, or grow into authority. But definitely not the best territory if your dopamine levels are not regulated because slowness in today’s speedy times can be super frustrating. Dopamine detox before Saturn ACG lines is definitely a must, but I will leave that more for my astro wellness diary.

Is it always easy? No.

But easy is not always the goal, especially if you are focusing on inner growth and wisdom.

If you are trying to write a book, complete a degree, build a business, create structure, save money, become more disciplined, or mature into a role that requires consistency, Saturn lines may support you more than a Venus lines.

Mars lines can also be useful if you need courage, independence, physical energy, competition, creative drive, or the ability to act. It may not be the place where you feel the most relaxed and this also depends on the overall temperament you have, but it could be the place where you finally move.

Best for rest?
Best for marriage?
Best for visibility?
Best for study?
Best for finances?
Best for spiritual life?
Best for healing?
Best for building discipline?
Best for leaving a pattern?
Best for becoming braver?

Lines impacting plus your natal and relocation chart cannot be judged properly until we know what you are asking from it.

This is why I offer astrocartography intention based readings separately from relocation readings.

Natal condition is the key and foundation, 80 percent of the work, while flipping your chart via relocation is just another 20 percent. Therefore, no, you can’t skip your chart when you relocate, as you are just living a different expression of it.

Timing can change everything

A line that is wonderful in one season may not be the right line in another.

This is where timing matters.

in locational astrology, cyclocartography adds a moving layer to your natal astrocartography map by tracking how transits and progressions activate different locations over time. Your birth map remains the foundation, but the planetary climate surrounding it continues to change.

A place that supports love, visibility, or expansion today may feel entirely different during a demanding Saturn period or an unpredictable Uranus transit. Cyclocartography helps us look beyond where a planetary line falls and ask the equally important question: when is the right time to experience it?

Jupiter astrocartography lines during a supportive Jupiter period may feel expansive and lucky. A Jupiter line during a difficult transit may still expand, but it may expand obligations, expenses, expectations, or unresolved issues.

This is why locational astrology should be paired with timing techniques.

Transits, profections, solar returns, progressions, and zodiacal releasing can all change which line is most useful at a given moment.

Therefore, a certain area where you felt amazing nearby certain astrocartography lines is not always your best area forever.

I focus on timing more in my relocation reading, as we are focusing on you making a decision around permanently relocating between three different places, timing is highly important to keep in mind.

Why “best” depends from person to person

Let’s make this practical.

Imagine someone wants to build a serious career and has a strong Saturn in their day chart where Saturn is more constructive, well-placed and connected to their 10th house. For example, their Saturn MC line may be demanding, but it could also support discipline, authority, long-term recognition, and professional maturity.

For that person, a Moon IC line might feel pleasant, but not necessarily purposeful as they are focusing on their career, and Moon is a lesser luminary for them as this person is born during the day by having a day chart.

Now imagine someone with a night chart where Venus is a stronger benefic, and Venus ruling important relationship or career houses natally. Their Venus ASC, DC and MC lines may genuinely be one of their best places for clients, visibility, relationships and / or social ease.

For them, Venus may not be superficial at all as it may be central!

What’s the key here? One fitting approach for every planetary line is passé. Tapping into each, individual natal chart is imperative in locational astrology and astrocartography work.

So many layers, mentally demanding definitely, but that’s the actual reality. Astrocartography is not superficial as it is represented on social media. A high quality astrocartography reading does not simply circle the “nice” lines and tell you to move there.

Sometimes the best place is not the softest place and that can be the entire point for you to learn a specific lesson in this lifetime. Because sometimes the best place is the one that asks the right thing from you.
