What it's like living on the Neptune DC line

Welcome to my first official Astro diary entry! I think it’s fitting to begin with the line that has the most influence on me as I have been in its presence my entire life: the Neptune DC line.

I was born exactly 170 km (105 miles) from my Neptune DC line, and for half of my life, I lived 182 km (113 miles) away from it. For five years, I resided 131 km (81 miles) from this line, and now, I find myself living exactly 111 km (68 miles) away, closer than ever before!

The influence of Neptune has always been very intense in my life, as I have had vivid dreams for as long as I can remember, and my intuition has guided me through numerous (confusing and deceptive) situations. Even though I haven’t found a lot of positive experiences with long-term living within this line in my research for now, I would like to go through my whole experience until now for 28 years of my life near it.

In this diary entry, I also want to point out that astrocartography is far from being a straightforward, black-and-white subject. It’s important to look at things like paran lines and orbs, for example, besides just lines going through certain places, and how moving in a short distance can also ‘switch’ energy, which I think is something that is not talked about enough. As you can see from mentioned above that I have moved around this certain line in my life, which means the influence of the line has shifted with each location, bringing up different themes connected to the Neptune DC line.

Get familiar with the Neptune DC line in astrocartography

The Neptune DC line in astrocartography represents the point where Neptune's influence intersects with the Descendant (DC) axis in your birth chart, meaning birth chart position = astro map position. Themes and experiences near or on this line depend on:

  • In what sign is your Neptune, and at what degree is it in your birth chart

  • In what house is your Neptune (this is even more important as Neptune is a slower-moving planet, meaning a whole generation has Neptune in a certain sign).

  • What aspects are linked to your Neptune — pay attention if you want to relocate on this line if you have applying squares and oppositions!

  • Paran lines across your Neptune line — as paran lines affect a more specific region and don’t impact the entire line (your Neptune line going across a certain location in Norway doesn’t have to go across a certain location below in Denmark, and vice versa, for example).

  • And finally, timing, known as cyclocartography, which I will explain further in this diary entry why is important when it comes to astrocartography in general.

Key topics around Neptune Descendant line are related to:

  • Relationships with others, as well as partnerships (Descendant = 7th house, 7th house rules themes related to one-on-one relationships and partnerships. It is the opposite of our Ascendant, which rules the topic around ourselves only). This is related to Neptune being conjunct to the Descendant line, and they are not specifically related to Neptune itself.

  • Dreams and intuition. These are the topics Neptune rules. Neptune is the ruler of Pisces, and you probably know if you have basic Astrology knowledge, that Pisces rules the themes related to spiritual awareness, dreams, art, intuition, sensitivity, healing, compassion, etc.

  • Imagination, but also escapism, confusion & illusion. These are all Piscean / Neptunian themes as well.

Hold on, how are you experiencing your Neptune DC if you are not living on the line directly?

Simply because living exactly on a line to feel it is a myth. Of course, the closer you are to the line, the stronger its presence. Neptune in my natal chart is on 27° Capricorn, which means it is conjunct with my Descendant (7th house).

Presence would be felt even more if I were born exactly 11 minutes earlier, which would make my Ascendant (and automatically Descendant) on 27° instead of 29 °, making my Neptune DC line go straight through my place of birth.

How did this change happen, you may wonder? Well, Ascendant changes on approx. every two hours, changing its degrees within minutes. This is why knowing exactly your minute of birth is the most important thing you need to know before pulling your Astro map — I already mentioned this in the intro diary entry: what is Astrocartography.

Let me summarize this. The planetary energy radiates outward from the exact line, meaning you can still experience the effects even when you aren't living directly on it. The strength of the line’s influence tends to fade the farther you are from the line, but it still holds a noticeable impact within that range. After we explained the position, meaning, and the whole picture around it, let’s continue to personal observations.

Neptune DC, strong intuition (and number confusion)

  • Everybody who personally knows me also knows this side of me, as intuition is my stronger side, being way more dominant than logical and analytical. I don’t even want to start on my lifelong struggle with dyscalculia that fed my Black Moon Lilith in Virgo in the 3rd house (yes, house of logic, ruled by Mercury :) ) with topics of shame around intelligence, simply because math wasn’t my strongest suit. I found out that I have dyscalculia when I was 19, during college. This period was when my first realization was that intuition is actually my strength and that there is nothing to be ashamed of around intelligence.

  • Living on a Neptune line definitely pushes this side of me ‘‘to the surface’’, along with highlighting confusion with numbers, even though I always remember birth dates, birth hours, and degrees in charts of others with precision, as well as remembering historical years and dates, personally and globally. But doing a simple math equation? Anxiety fuels to the max. Dyscalculia is quite weird as you can see, lol.

  • I remember that throughout high school, I had intuition, which allowed me to sense whether couples would break up or stay together, even with limited knowledge about them. This intuition extended to my own relationships, where I would have a sudden feeling that it was the last time I would be in a certain situation with a particular person. Initially, I would feel intimidated and deny these feelings, but they often turned out to be true a few days or weeks later.

  • Since Pluto transited my Neptune, I've experienced these sensations less frequently, which I'm not upset about, TBH! Now, I mostly sense things digitally, picking up on how others perceive me online and interpreting the behavioral traces they leave behind. For this, I give kudos to my Uranus DC line too, which is also having a moderate influence on where I am located, as it’s 5° from my Descendant (yes, you can feel influences of multiple lines within a location even though they are not strictly next to each other).

Vivid dreams and imagination near Neptune DC

What It's Like Living on the Neptune DC Line

On exploring dreams and confronting nightmares with Neptune DC influence

I have vivid dreams ever since I am aware of my existence, and this is my personal favorite of living on a Neptune line, even though some days my dreams can definitely dictate my mood (alongside of Moon being the ruler of my chart, teehee). But, no, honestly, it’s worth all of the inspiration, psychological analysis, realizations and solutions, hearing certain sounds in a dream and later figuring them in a program to hit the right note (usually through reversing and my mom is not a fan of this one), all of this dictating the flow of my imagination and creativity, basically shaping me as a person and my approach to the world.

But of course, with dreams come nightmares during certain periods that can infuse paranoia, and that’s not the fun side of it. However, I personally accept and welcome this aspect as it brings extremely valuable insight in the long run, usually during major Saturn transits.

Honestly, if dyscalculia is a price for having this, sign me up again, thank you!

Neptune DC and relationships can be a cocktail of intuition, confusion, and deception

Neptune DC Line in Astrocartography

Here’s an actual photo of me wearing heart-shaped glasses in 2015. It’s kind of funny and weird at the same time that my favorite song during that time was actually heart-shaped glasses by Marylin Manson.

Neptune LOVES dissolving boundaries. I personally like to say that it’s a thin boarder between intuition and deception, and this is true especially when you are young and lack experience, which was the main topic of my life before Neptune conjunct DC met with Pluto passing nearby.

Before this aspect, I wore heart shaped glasses 24/7 when it came to personal relationships. I would like to keep it short that I was quite prone to being used while putting abusers on a pedestal and being prone to dating narcissists (of course with lot of daydreaming involved around all of those people).

It was a major topic happening around for years, along with Saturn transiting my 7th house before Pluto reached DC (line of relationships). Valuable lessons, indeed!

Neptune conjunct transit Pluto was happening side by side with my frontal cortex development. Funny timing, isn’t it? That’s the time I felt ‘‘sober’’ for the first time ever, and got in a healthy, stable relationship very soon after, besides being in quite deceitful and hurting relationships in the past. When it comes to forming new, genuine friendships, meeting worldwide (read as meeting people AWAY from my Neptune DC line) changed everything.

The goal of me writing this is to mention why cyclocartography (transits + secondary progressions in astrocartography) is of very high importance when you are considering to visit not just Neptune lines, but any other line, as well as that going on a certain line and living near it that has ‘bad reputation’ doesn’t mean you are doomed, but you have to pay attention to what is happening and if nothing is changeable at the moment, how to find solutions around it.

So, what is Cyclocartography?

Cyclocartography is an extension of astrocartography that focuses on how planetary influences vary with different time cycles.

So, imagine I haven’t lived my whole near the Neptune DC line and I moved to it when I was 18. Traveling to for a shorter time and dating near it would feel like a fairytale (without being aware that I am infused with lies probably), which I would realize if I permanently located there through time.

On the other hand, if I had relocated in my 26th year, it would have been a way better area to visit and live in with way more ease, because my heart-shaped glasses would be missing this time, meaning I wouldn’t have been as idealistic or romantic and I can see what’s going on more properly than I did in the past. When an aspect is separating, it’s like the energy is fading, much like how the Full Moon gradually diminishes and transforms into a Waning Gibbous, one door closes and a new phase begins.. That’s why it’s important to consider the timing of your aspects, transits, and progressions if you’re thinking about moving to a new place, or fulfilling a certain goal within a specific area.

How Neptune DC line fuels escapism

How Neptune DC Line Fuels Escapism

Vivid dreams are fun, imagination is too, topics revolving around others… Is escapism in the room with us? You bet.

Living near my Neptune DC line makes time feel elusive. In my hometown, farther from it, I managed time better, though it dragged. The closer I get, the more confusion expands. My best time management was on my Saturn local line in college, but isolation was a tradeoff.

Being near Neptune pulls me into escapism, and with my Uranus DC line also in play, technology fuels it: PCs, PS, phone time. Living west of this line, I feel like I’m in a simulation within a simulation.

Neptune DC and ‘creative’ mess

Speaking of con sides, this one is my family’s favorite * smiles nervously *. You will never see my desk being 100% in order, maybe 20 minutes after I clean it up, and that’s about it. I am personally quite a minimalist when it comes to stuff, but no matter how much I declutter, take care, and try to keep order… It just follows.

I am not speaking about dirtiness here; I am talking about stuff around me that is never in perfect order, no matter how much I try.

Stuff around me gets nonsensical, too. The washing machine loves to mess with my clothes as well, and I don’t even want to begin on clogged drains following me more intensely as I get closer to the line. A clogged drain happened on my vacation, 9 km away from the Neptune line, of course, too. How symbolic of you, Neptune!

If you have a lot of Virgo placements with a lot of aspects to them in your birth chart, and you thought about moving to any of your Neptune lines, I wouldn’t recommend it to you if you want to save yourself from daily nervous breakdowns.

Also, if you love fashion, makeup, doing nails, etc., or you generally enjoy doing stuff with maximum precision. When I think about all three of those, I just have pictures of chores in my head, not actual fun, even though I love them all, but Neptune is just busting all the fun.

I don’t remember if I ever got my nails done precisely in my life. It needs to finish with at least one spill on my fingers or with one finger looking funkier than others, no matter if I am focused fully or not. On the positive side, it can be beneficial for abstract, surreal art, from ideas to realization. My advice is to always keep in mind all of these little details before relocating.

How Neptune lines enhance spiritual awakenings

Even though I consider certain activations and alignments important here, it’s a fact that spiritual awakening and general awareness are quite a thing, not just on Neptune DC, but on any Neptune line.

Spirituality was always a major theme in my life, with a period of pulling away from it during my college years, and I felt lost when I drifted away from it. I began researching Astrology when I was 14, and I began practicing yoga when I was 17. And I had my first spiritual awakening when I was 19, and a major one (very spontaneous though) when I was 24, when transit Pluto was exactly conjunct with my natal Neptune, which completely changed my life (but for the better).

It can be scary and it can be beautiful at the same time; in the end, it all depends on your point of view. I got used to these themes at this point, and I see now that exploring them is my true calling. I am absolutely fine with this (especially with my Moon being in the 8th house), but for some, especially when Pluto is involved as a transit or an aspect can be quite scary.

I personally love to look the truth in its eyes, no matter how tough it can be, and Neptune can spiritually help with that a lot. For some, it’s not their cup of tea, and it’s completely understandable! For example, if you practice kundalini yoga, in my opinion, the Neptune DC line is the best for this experience, especially if you want to awaken your kundalini energy with a guide by your side, as it can be a bit tricky without one.

Living on my Neptune DC line has been a wild ride of blurred boundaries, vivid dreams, and constant shifts in how I connect with others and with myself, and it has shaped my life in ways I never expected it would, and that’s the charm of it. Even though objectively it’s not the best line on the planet to live on, I would do it all over again if you asked me. I personally actually enjoy it a lot, especially after acknowledging and working with the energy of this line, minus the creative mess, dyscalculia, and overall confusion that occur in strong waves from time to time.

It’s good to keep in mind that there is no perfect place to live. Your birth chart is your birth chart at the end of the day — by relocating it, you are amplifying a certain energy of a planet on a certain axis of your chart. Pros and cons are everywhere, and that’s the beauty of it!

Suppose you are curious about exploring your Neptune DC or any other Neptunian line, or you are living on it just like me. In that case, I encourage you to book an astrocartography reading with me. I will focus on delivering you personalized guidance according to your goals, wants, and needs, including an analysis of which areas your lines go through, with options where you can travel or relocate.

I am looking forward to hearing your experience, or even your enthusiasm to explore!

Until next diary entry,
Ang x

P.S. Here’s a song to listen to that is inspired completely by Neptunian energy:
